How to Get a Groq API Key

Groq is the fastest free way to run GetSEO. You create an account, generate a key, paste it into the settings drawer, and your audits run in your own browser against your own quota. No card required to start.

Step by step

    Open the Groq console

    Go to console.groq.com and sign in with Google, GitHub or email. There is no paid plan to choose during signup.

    Go to API Keys

    In the left sidebar open the API Keys section. This is where every key for your account lives.

    Create the key

    Click Create API Key, give it a name you will recognise later such as 'GetSEO audits', and confirm.

  4. 4

    Copy it immediately

    Groq shows the full key value only once. Copy it before closing the dialog. If you lose it, delete the key and create a new one.

    Paste it into GetSEO

    Open the settings drawer in the top right of GetSEO, choose Groq as the provider, paste the key and save. It is stored in your browser only and never sent to us.

    Pick a model and run

    A large Llama or Qwen instruct model on Groq handles audit reasoning well. Enter your site URL and run the audit.

Use your key in GetSEO

Open the settings drawer from the top bar, add the key, and it is saved in your browser only. You can add several keys and GetSEO will fail over between them automatically.

Worth knowing

  • Groq's free tier is rate limited per minute and per day rather than billed per token, so an occasional audit usually costs nothing.
  • Speed is the main advantage: a full report finishes noticeably faster than on most hosted providers.
  • If you hit a rate limit mid-audit, wait a minute or add a second key to the key pool and GetSEO will fail over automatically.

Troubleshooting

ProblemFix
401 invalid api keyThe key was copied with a trailing space or truncated. Delete it in the settings drawer and paste again.
429 rate limit reachedYou have used the free per-minute allowance. Wait sixty seconds, or add another provider key so audits can fail over.
Model not foundGroq retires model IDs periodically. Choose a currently listed model in the settings drawer.
